What is Montessori?

Our School

The New Montessori Pre-school provides an holistic approach to children's education so as to develop the whole child, physically, socially, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally. We celebrate each child's individuality and have a deep understanding of their development needs.

Our aim is to help the child develop life skills including confidence, independence and liberty. We encourage and foster respect for others through positive role models, lessons in grace and courtesy and by child initiated ground rules. With you, we can ensure the best start by building solid foundations for your child to possess a life-long love of learning.

Children learning together!

This school is the only Montessori accredited pre-school in Worthing and it is accredited as 'Outstanding'. It is the only Montessori pre-school in the country that is a registered charity - no one owns TNMP and no one is making any money from it (other than staff salaries). In most areas of the country, Montessori trained staff earn more than the average pre-school practitioner. That is not the case at TNMP, staff salaries match any other standard pre-school in the area.

The Pre-school's aim is to provide Montessori education to all children at an affordable cost. We strive not to raise fees to ensure the pre-school stays accessible to as many of the local community as possible. The pre-school also provides expert-led parenting courses and heuristic play classes to support you in enhancing your child's development at home as well as within the pre-school setting.

What We Offer

Our pre-school has places for 52 children per session from 2- 8 years of age. We use the Chapel and the Hall as our two main classrooms. The Chapel can accommodate 28 children at any one time and the Hall accommodates 24 children. Both classrooms have two fire exits. The staff ratio is 1:6 for 3 & 4 year olds and 1:3 for 2 year olds. There is also a kitchen for supervised use with the children.

The cloakroom provides both classes with child height pegs for children’s coats and bags which are named to assist with the settling in process. There are three toilets and two urinals situated near the classrooms. All visits to the toilets are supervised. At the side of the building is a private small garden, which is regularly changed according to the term. The garden is always supervised.
